Free CV Review: I’ll Review Your CV Personally
If you are wondering whether your CV is actually good enough to get you interviews, I will review it for you completely free of charge.
And I mean free. There is no payment, no obligation to use my CV writing service and no expectation that you will become a client.
I personally review every CV submitted to me. I don’t put it through an automated checker and send you a computer-generated report. I look at it myself and assess it against the standards I use when writing professional CVs for my clients.
There is no single official industry standard for what makes a great CV. Different careers, industries and levels of seniority require different approaches. What matters is whether your CV communicates your experience, achievements, responsibilities and potential clearly enough to make an employer want to meet you.
That is what I look for.
What Do I Look For When I Review Your CV?
When I review your CV, I look at it from the perspective of someone who has spent years writing and assessing CVs and understanding what employers need to see.
I look at the overall structure and presentation, but I also look much more closely at the content. Does the CV actually tell me what you have done? Does it demonstrate your level of responsibility? Does it show the size of teams you have managed, the budgets you have controlled, the customers you have dealt with or the results you have delivered?
Most importantly, does it give an employer a reason to want to meet you?
I also look at whether your CV is written in a way that is likely to work with modern recruitment systems. If you want to understand more about this, my guide to an ATS-friendly CV explains why keywords, structure and formatting matter.
I will also tell you if I think something is missing, unclear, unnecessarily long or simply not helping you.
Your CV Review Is Completely Free
There is an important distinction between my free CV review and many online CV checkers.
You are not paying me to review your CV.
I do it personally because I believe that sometimes people simply need an experienced pair of eyes to tell them whether their CV is working and where it could be improved.
There is also no obligation to use my professional CV writing service afterwards.
If I think your CV is perfectly good and only needs a few changes, I will tell you. If I think it needs considerable work, I will tell you that too.
I would much rather give you an honest assessment than tell you that you need to buy a service you don’t need.
Why My Opinion May Be Useful
I have written CVs for people at very different stages of their careers, from people starting out to experienced professionals, senior managers and executives.
I also work with people from very different backgrounds, including ex-military and ex-police professionals who need to translate their experience into language civilian employers understand.
Over the years, I have also built up more than 185 five-star reviews from clients. That doesn’t mean that my opinion is some official measure of whether a CV is good or bad. There is no such universal standard.
It does mean that I have considerable experience of looking at CVs, understanding what needs improving and helping people present their experience professionally.
You can see what previous clients have said on my client reviews page.
What Happens When You Send Me Your CV?
The process is deliberately simple.
Send me your current CV and I will personally look through it.
I will consider how it reads, how clearly it presents your experience, whether your achievements have enough impact and whether there are obvious areas that could be strengthened.
I will also consider whether the CV is likely to work effectively in today’s recruitment environment, including its suitability for Applicant Tracking Systems.
My aim isn’t to give you a generic list of things that every CV should contain. Your circumstances are different from everyone else’s, so the feedback needs to make sense for your career and the type of work you are looking for.
If you subsequently decide that you would like professional help rewriting your CV, you can find out more about how my CV writing process works. But there is absolutely no obligation to do that.
Is a Free CV Review Worth Doing?
If you have been sending applications without getting interviews, it is certainly worth having someone experienced look at your CV.
Sometimes the problem is obvious. Sometimes it isn’t.
You may have excellent experience but simply aren’t communicating it effectively. Your responsibilities may be clear, but your achievements may be buried. You may be using terminology that makes perfect sense to you but doesn’t mean much to a civilian employer. Or your CV may simply be too generic.
A fresh pair of eyes can often identify things that are difficult to see when you have been looking at your own CV for years.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is the CV review really free?
Yes. Completely free. There is no charge for me to review your CV and there is no obligation to purchase anything from me afterwards.
Do you personally review my CV?
Yes. I personally review the CVs that are submitted for review. This isn’t an automated CV checker or an AI-generated report.
Is there an official standard you use to judge my CV?
No. There is no single official industry standard that determines whether a CV is good or bad. I assess your CV against the professional standards and experience I have developed through writing CVs and working with clients across different careers and levels.
Will you rewrite my CV as part of the free review?
No. The free review is an assessment of your existing CV. If you decide you need a completely new CV, you can find out more about my bespoke CV writing service.
Will you tell me if my CV is already good?
Yes. If I think your CV is doing a good job and only needs some minor changes, I’ll tell you. The purpose of the review is to give you an honest professional opinion, not to sell you something.

This is a much stronger page because the free review itself is the offer. We’re not trying to disguise it as a generic “2026 guide”. It gives Google a clear subject, gives the visitor a clear reason to contact you, and gives you a very natural route from free review → professional CV writing if the person needs more help.
