LinkedIn Profile Optimisation & Coaching UK | John Logan

Bespoke LinkedIn profile writing, optimisation and coaching that goes much further than simply rewriting your profile.

Your LinkedIn profile is now an important part of the recruitment process. Recruiters use LinkedIn to identify potential candidates, employers use it to promote vacancies and professionals use it to build their reputation and become visible to organisations they may never otherwise have reached.

But having a LinkedIn profile is not the same as having a LinkedIn profile that works for you.

That is where my approach is different.

I don’t simply rewrite your headline, improve your About section and send you a finished profile. I work with you to create a professional LinkedIn profile, configure your account around your individual circumstances and, most importantly, show you how to use LinkedIn properly yourself.

And you don’t pay extra for this.

My LinkedIn profile optimisation and coaching is included as part of my bespoke package alongside your professional CV writing and bespoke cover letters.

Why LinkedIn matters in modern recruitment

LinkedIn is no longer simply an online version of your CV.

A recruiter may be looking for someone with your particular skills, experience or professional background without ever seeing your CV. They may find your LinkedIn profile first.

That makes your LinkedIn profile an important part of your professional presence.

It needs to make it clear who you are, what you do, what you have achieved and what you can offer.

For some people, LinkedIn can also provide opportunities that never appear through traditional job applications.

That is why I don’t treat LinkedIn as something you set up once and forget about. I help you understand how it works and how you can use it throughout your career.

Professional LinkedIn profile optimisation starts with you

There is no standard LinkedIn profile that works for everyone.

Your circumstances could be completely different from those of another client.

You might already be employed and quietly considering your next move. You may want recruiters to be able to find you without making it obvious to everyone in your network that you are looking for another job.

You might work for an organisation where you want a strong professional presence but cannot, or do not want to, disclose too much about your responsibilities, clients, projects or the work you are involved in.

You may be actively looking for a new position and want to make yourself as visible as possible to recruiters.

Or you may be perfectly happy in your current role and simply want to strengthen your professional profile so that you are ready when the right opportunity comes along.

These situations require different approaches.

That is why I don’t use a standard LinkedIn template.

I take the time to understand your career, your circumstances and what you want LinkedIn to achieve before deciding how your profile should be presented.

I go through every relevant LinkedIn setting with you

This is one of the most important differences between my LinkedIn profile optimisation service and simply paying someone to rewrite your profile.

I don’t just concentrate on the words people see when they visit your profile.

I go through every relevant LinkedIn setting with you.

We look at how your account is configured, what other people can see, how your profile is presented and which settings are appropriate for your particular circumstances.

I explain what the settings do and why they matter.

If you are employed and want to explore opportunities discreetly, we can look at your setup with that in mind.

If you are actively looking for work and want to be more visible, we can approach things differently.

If you work in a sensitive environment where you need to be careful about the information you disclose, that needs to be considered too.

There is no one-size-fits-all LinkedIn setup.

Your LinkedIn account should be set up for you.

And when we have finished, you will understand how it has been configured and why.

I don’t just optimise your LinkedIn profile. I teach you how to use it.

This is where my LinkedIn coaching becomes particularly valuable.

I could simply make your profile look professional and send it back to you.

But what happens when your circumstances change?

What happens when you start looking for a different type of role?

What happens when you want to use LinkedIn to find opportunities rather than simply having a profile sitting there?

I want you to understand how LinkedIn works.

I’ll show you how to use the platform’s features, how to manage your profile and how to make changes yourself as your career develops.

I’ll also show you how to set up LinkedIn job alerts, so you can have relevant opportunities brought to your attention rather than constantly searching for them yourself.

The objective is not to make you dependent on me.

The objective is to leave you confident enough to use LinkedIn yourself.

Your LinkedIn profile needs to work for recruitment

A professionally written LinkedIn profile should communicate your value quickly.

If your headline simply says “Operations Manager”, for example, it tells people your job title but very little about what you actually bring to an organisation.

Your headline should give the reader a much clearer understanding of your professional expertise and the type of work you do.

The same applies to your About section.

This is where I can bring together your experience, achievements, strengths and professional direction in a way that gives the reader a much clearer picture of who you are.

I don’t want your profile to become a collection of job descriptions.

I want it to demonstrate your career.

I concentrate on achievements and the scope of your experience

This is an important part of my approach to both CV writing and LinkedIn profile writing.

A list of responsibilities doesn’t necessarily tell someone how senior or experienced you really are.

There is a considerable difference between saying that you managed a team and explaining that you managed 85 people.

There is a difference between saying that you managed operations and explaining the scale, geographical reach, resources, budgets or complexity involved.

Where appropriate, I want your LinkedIn profile to demonstrate those things.

The reader should understand not only what you did, but the level at which you did it and the value you brought.

That can be particularly important for senior professionals, executives, ex-military personnel, police officers and anyone moving from one sector into another.

Your CV and LinkedIn profile should work together

Your CV and LinkedIn profile should complement one another, but they shouldn’t simply be identical documents.

Your CV is normally written around a particular job application and can be tailored towards a specific role and employer.

Your LinkedIn profile has a broader purpose. It represents you professionally to recruiters, employers, your network and people who may discover you without you ever approaching them.

Your professional story therefore needs to be consistent across both, while each serves its own purpose.

The experience, achievements and strengths we identify during my CV writing process provide an important foundation, but I then consider how that information should be presented specifically for LinkedIn.

I show you how ATS recruitment works

There is another important part of my coaching that connects directly with the work I do on your CV and cover letters.

I don’t simply tell you that recruitment has changed and that Applicant Tracking Systems are being used.

I show you.

I use live examples of ATS technology so you can actually see what happens when recruitment software processes an application.

This allows you to experience for yourself the principles I have been explaining throughout the CV and cover letter process.

You can see why terminology, job titles, skills and relevant keywords matter.

You can see why simply having the right experience isn’t always enough if your application isn’t communicating that experience effectively.

And you can understand how your CV, cover letters and LinkedIn profile fit together within modern recruitment.

I believe that is much more valuable than simply telling you how ATS works and expecting you to take my word for it.

LinkedIn profile writing should not end when the profile is finished

A LinkedIn profile shouldn’t be something you create once and then forget about.

Your career will change.

Your responsibilities will change.

Your ambitions may change.

The types of roles you are interested in may change.

That is why I want you to understand how to manage your LinkedIn presence yourself.

If your circumstances change six months from now, you should know how to update your profile and change the relevant settings.

You should know how to create and amend job alerts.

You should understand what recruiters and other people can see.

And you should understand how to use LinkedIn as part of your wider career strategy.

That is what my LinkedIn coaching is designed to achieve.

Why my LinkedIn optimisation service is different

There are plenty of services offering LinkedIn profile optimisation.

But optimisation can mean very different things.

For some providers, it may simply involve rewriting the headline and About section. You receive the revised profile and the work is finished.

My approach goes much further.

I want to understand you before I write anything. I consider your career, your experience, your ambitions and your circumstances.

I optimise your profile around those things.

I go through your relevant LinkedIn settings with you.

I explain what those settings do.

I show you how to use LinkedIn properly.

I help you set up job alerts.

I demonstrate modern recruitment technology using live ATS examples.

And I make sure your LinkedIn profile works alongside your CV and cover letters rather than existing as a completely separate document.

Most importantly, I don’t charge you separately for each of these elements.

They are all part of the bespoke service.

You can see exactly what is included in my CV packages and pricing.

You don’t pay extra for the coaching

I want to make this particularly clear because I believe it is one of the most valuable parts of what I offer.

When you work with me, I’m not simply producing documents for you.

I’m giving you the knowledge to understand what those documents are doing and how the recruitment process works.

Your LinkedIn profile optimisation is included.

Your LinkedIn coaching is included.

Going through your relevant settings is included.

Showing you how to set up job alerts is included.

Demonstrating ATS technology is included.

Explaining how your CV, cover letters and LinkedIn profile work together is included.

You don’t receive a basic service and then discover that every additional part of the process costs more.

The whole point of my approach is to provide a genuinely bespoke service based around you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does LinkedIn profile optimisation involve?

It involves much more than rewriting your profile. I look at your career, experience and objectives before optimising the profile itself. I also go through your relevant LinkedIn settings, explain how they work and coach you on how to use LinkedIn effectively.

Do you offer LinkedIn profile writing in the UK?

Yes. I provide bespoke LinkedIn profile writing and optimisation as part of my professional CV writing service. My approach is designed around the individual rather than using a standard LinkedIn template.

Do you go through the LinkedIn settings with me?

Yes. I go through every relevant setting with you and configure your account according to your circumstances. This is particularly important if you are already employed and want to explore other opportunities discreetly, or if you work in an organisation where you need to be careful about the information you disclose.

Is LinkedIn coaching included in the package?

Yes. You don’t pay extra for the LinkedIn optimisation or coaching. It forms part of my overall bespoke package.

Can you help me set up LinkedIn job alerts?

Yes. I’ll show you how to set up job alerts and explain how to use LinkedIn to identify relevant opportunities.

Will my LinkedIn profile simply be a copy of my CV?

No. Your CV and LinkedIn profile should complement each other rather than simply duplicate one another. Your CV is normally tailored towards a specific application, while LinkedIn represents your wider professional presence.

Will you show me how ATS works?

Yes. I use live examples to demonstrate how Applicant Tracking Systems process applications. This gives you a practical understanding of why the terminology, skills and keywords used in your CV matter.
